Haircuts... with glasses
Hey, everyone :)

So, I just recently got glasses, and previously I had long bangs but when I wear my glasses they fall infront of my face. It gets really annoying, trying to prevent them from falling and covering my face :(

I decided to cut my hair, and I was thinking about getting the Asian Mullet (you know, scene hair?) but not as poofy or as big as everyone else gets them, I want it just flat. The layers would start underneath my chin, and the bangs would be sideswept and layered, most likely framing my face. But I'm afraid that it'll make my face rounder.

I have a round face, and I mean round! I'm asian, and yes I'm quite short. I have long hair, to the small of my back. It's black, very straight- I never have to straigten it! Which is cool :D

Please give me some advice, because I need help. It's not fun when you're the only teenage girl in your entire family, nor is it helpful asking fashion advice from uncles who only get buzz cuts and "trims" (i.e. I don't care what you do to my hair, it'll look the same afterwards anyways). Help is very appreciated :)

Lighten Hair
I'm a natural blonde who went from realllyyyy dark brown, to a warm, brassy blonde w/blonde highlights.

I hate it.  It looks orange to me! But I know the only thing I can do to lighten it right now is bleach...which I can't touch because I straighten my hair almost daily!

Can anyone tell me a way to lighten my hair without harmful chemicals?  I heard lemons in the sun are an option?

Thanks for any advice in advance =)

Hello, I just recently cut my hair to my shoulders. I've noticed that every time I cut or style my hair, after I straighten it the ends flip out. I have naturally wavy hair, so I thought that may be the problem. I was wondering if anyone had any tips as to keeping my hair straight?

Thank you.

Curly Hair
You know, I have it, but I sure as hell don't know how to cut it. That's a lie. I CAN, but I'm not FANTASTIC at it.

Tips and tricks and must-haves, anybody? I've got a curly haired client coming in on Friday and since my knowledge is so limited, I would like to make sure I can give her a good cut. If not, I'll need to pass her on to the other stylist.

Take pity on me, mighty hair people!
I am in desperate need of hair advice. I have had long hair- between bum and waist length- for years. It has become sort of a fat girl security blanket for me, I think, and I have been loathe to let it go. The thing is, I'm tired of it. My options are seriously limited- ponytail, floopy ponytail thing [technical term], two braids, bun, and two buns. I never wear it down as it quickly gets in my way, and I've twisted it up and jammed a pencil in it within ten minutes. Yawn. I have been That Girl. PLEASE CONVERT ME.

The time for change has definitely come, but since I've had long hair for so long, I am really, really, really scared to cut it (I told you I was that girl). What I want is short. Potentially pixie cut short. It's a big leap, you know, and I have NO idea what might be flattering to my face, etc. Thus I appeal to you, O internet strangers, in your great wisdom.

I'd like to go short, but really need to keep it fairly easy to style- no more than 10-15 minutes and definitely nothing requiring appliances. I'm 25 and would like a more updated look (see styling options above), but nothing too...edgy? I like edgy, but I do need to blend in with the other old people sometimes. In short, I want it all. :p (I could be talked into coloring it as well but I can't afford that- I'm in Switzerland now, and cuts alone are outrageous here!)

Here's a picture of me, totally unadorned. Blank canvass. (pic is very true to my coloring, also.) I'm also including of the sort of cut I like/am considering. Your advice and input will really be very, very much appreciated- I am overseas with no real friends around to ask, boo hoo.

Pics under hereCollapse )

ETA: My hair is straight as a poker and fairly thick. I am fat+curvy+super busty and pretty much live in jeans and tshirts, if that influences things.

ATTN: Washington, DC and surrounding areas

I'm working on finishing up my apprenticeship at a high end salon in Dupont Circle and I need haircut models. No need for drastic changes, just a good haircut. I especially need longer hair models. Men are welcome too! The cost is $10, and allow yourself a couple hours.

Long story short: I'm going to a wedding on Sunday, and have only just been informed that it is FAR more formal than I had previously thought (thanks, boyfriend). I can't for the life of me find a hair place open in my area on time for when I need it (if they're even open at all on a Sunday).

So I am left to my own devices and am desperate for what to do.

Picture of meCollapse )

+ My layers are super choppy and the top ones are pretty short (you wouldn't know, my hair lies so darn flat).
+ My bangs (if you can call them that) are pretty stupid. They don't like to do anything and tend to just sit awkwardly wherever they feel like.

I figure my best bet is either just curling it or half up/half down, but I am at a loss for technique(/talent).

I don't have a curling iron (nor can I afford one) but I DO have my 1" Chi flatiron, which I have used before to curl my hair.

Bascially I just need suggestions for styles, and perhaps suggestions for product that will actually hold a curl? My hair tends to fall flat after a couple hours.

NOW I have to figure out makeup. Joy.

What should I do with my hair?
I hope this is allowed, apologies if it's not. I'm a total noob so if something in this post doesn't work, let me know.

Basically, I want to know what to do with my hair. I've been growing it out for a while, so it's gone a wee bit lank and shapeless. It's quite thick and naturally wavy, and I'm looking for a style that doesn't take tooooo much work as I'm pretty busy and don't have the time to spend aaaages every morning styling it! I like the length, but I could be willing to go some way shorter. I also quite like the side-fringe, though I don't know what the lady did with it last time because it's not sit right since I got it done and they're normally pretty good. If you want to know anything more, just ask :)

'scuse lack of makeup! I also posted this to h4ir, but I was looking for a few more opinions, I don't know if this is a no-no on livejournal or something...I'm a bit new!!

Extreme cut!
Well, here's the deal.

I'm Monica. I've always had long hair, and I've never really had "pretty" hair... I mean, its okay, but I've never done much with it. I'm 18, and graduating highschool in a week and a half, and I want to cut it. I really, really want to cut it.

Right now, its mid-backish. I want something short, but not toooo short. Like chin length... and I want something fairly "edgy." Side bangs are a plus, but I can't stand "straight across" bangs. I have ear piercings, so it'd be cool if they showed, but I'm not sure I want to go that extreme.

Also, Its very "flat" ... very little body, very very fine shafts. It used to be oily, but not so much anymore... so any "poof" styles will simply not work. Haha.

Mainly, I really really want cut suggestions. Pictures would be amazingly fabulous.
Any advice on styling would be excellent as well.

I have a pseudo appointment this coming Tuesday, meaning a friend and I have said "lets go get our hair cut Tuesday" but no appointment has been made [as the place I normally go is a walk in place]. Which means I can cop out if I must, but I'd really rather not. I really, really want this. I'm just... very indecisive.

So please! Suggestions! I beg of you.
Thanks in advance!

PS - Crossposted everywhere. Major apologies if you see this twice, but I'm desperate!

Keratin Complex straightening treatment
does anyone have experience with this? Keratin Complex straightening treatment? my friend works at a salon that does this, and she wont give me any information about it. BRAT! i would love to offer this to my clients, and not alot of salons in my area do this (which is why my friend wont give me info on it...competition!). any info that anyone has on this would be helpful. especially who manufactures this.

Summer hair cut
I'm a new member, but I'm going to cut to the chase. Right now I have long, thick, frizzy, wavy hair that holds an ungodly amount of water. It's heavy, hot, and keeps me wet for 6 hours after a shower because I squeeze it dry till nothing more comes out, then 10 seconds later it's dripping again.

I want to get a cut for summer (I'm almost definitely going to do locks of love), but I don't know if I just want to hack it to about shoulder length like I've done in the past, or if I want to get a short cut/style, which I've never done before. Do you have any ideas for a short (basically short enough to where I don't need to pull it back in a pony tail, OR long enough to wear I can put it in a ponytail, should I choose to, if that makes sense at all)? I will provide an (older) picture so you can get an idea of my face shape/hair texture (or as much as you can). It would need to be LOWLOWLOW maintenance (maximum of about 2 minutes - I'm lazy and don't have that much time). I would be wearing it underneath a fairly well fitted helmet much of the time, as I ride horses and periodically ride my bike to work. I also shower at night and sleep with my hair wet. I never dry my hair because my it's extremely fragile - it breaks as easily as chemically treated hair, even though it never has been.

Some pictures from August so you can get an ideaCollapse )
